Every once in awhile a truly magnificent yacht presents itself to the market…..welcome to “Ballymack”! This stunning and exceptionally maintained yacht is one of only 30 Hans Christian 48T’s ever built. She was born of the rugged North Sea waters, designed for strength of hull, efficiency of sail on all tacks, and safe handling by her shorthanded crew. The freat design carries through to the interior, providing comfort and practicality below for living aboard and spending long periods at sea and at anchor, to the excellent ventilation for tropical anchoring, and to the outstanding storage capacity for provisions for long passages and favourite cruising.
She is a true seagoing blue water specialist, capable of taking you and your family around the world, or the Caribbean, or simply up and down the West Coast. Her interior represents the finest craftsmanship with beautiful teak joinery, fine marble, and luxurious upholstery, while her exterior is handsome and rugged.
The dominant feature in the Hans Christian’s design, and particularly fitting out, is tradition – the builders state that aesthetic character is as important as practical qualities. Items and features not seen aboard production yachts for 30 years resurface on the Hans Christians – brass and leatherbound gallows, pinrails, chromed dorade cowls and wooden skylights, not to mention a bulwark nearly a foot high surrounding the deck.
The deep, full keel. with fuel and water tanks within, provides good stability in heavy seas and winds and with easily balanced sail plan provides good tracking over long distances. The cutaway forefoot combines with the “barn door” rudder to provide quick, responsive steerage both forward and reverse in tight quarters.
In this age day and age of plastic consumerism, the Hans Christian stands out as a monument to traditional value and looks, with high satisfaction reports from her proud owners. “Ballymack” is the ideal boat for a couple or family who have dreams of adventuring beyond close waters; of living aboard; of sailing to; anchoring among, and exploring islands and coastlines of the Caribbean, Soouth America, Europe and beyond in safety, comfort and style. She is designed and engineered to be a safe and enjoyable home at sea, at anchor, and at a dock with a comfortable and elegant interior, with massive amounts of space for provisions and the amenities important for enjoyable cruising.
Exceptionally well equipped, the current owner has spared no expense in maintaining and upgrading her to an immaculate standard and she’s a head turner at every Marina she enters.
